WomenCan 2025 Just Got Bigger: State of Women Address Secures Key Sponsorship

WomenCan has partnered with Old Mutual SMEgo for The State of Women Address 2025 on International Women’s Day. The event will tackle gender equality, empowerment, and key challenges women face, featuring keynote speaker General Riah Phiyega and inspiring panel discussions.

Johannesburg, South Africa – WomenCan, a leading platform for women empowerment, has announced Old Mutual SMEgo as a key partner for The State of Women Address (SOWA).

Set to take place on International Women’s Day, March 8 2025, at Pere House in Midrand, this groundbreaking event will unite voices across genders to drive transformative dialogue and actionable solutions to the multifaceted challenges women face today.

SOWA is a powerful movement bringing together women and men, networks, organisations, and individuals committed to fostering meaningful change and progress for women. The event will feature a keynote address by former national commissioner of police, Riah Phiyega, now CEO of the Women’s Development Business Trust, who will explore critical issues such as diversity and inclusion, the gender pay gap, mental health, financial wellness, women empowerment, and entrepreneurship.

“We are proud to be part of The State of Women Address. We constantly strive to develop meaningful partnerships that have the power to advance the progress of women. We are committed to delivering innovative solutions to solve core needs for businesses and enable growth,” said Nobesuthu Ndlovu, Director of SME at Old Mutual Corporate.

Tumi Mthembu, Founder of WomenCan, expressed her excitement about the partnership, stating, “We are incredibly excited to have Old Mutual SMEgo as a partner for SOWA. Only through collaboration with corporates, government, and key stakeholders can we amplify marginalized voices, bridge gaps in understanding, and co-create strategies that address the systemic roots of gender disparities.”

The event will be facilitated by Olwethu Leshabane, a prominent advocate for women empowerment, and radio veteran Thabo ‘Tbose’ Mokwele. Attendees can look forward to engaging panel discussions featuring inspiring female and male leaders, curated to foster collaboration and ignite change.

This partnership builds on WomenCan’s ongoing efforts to empower women and address systemic challenges. In a previous article by NOWinSA, Prof. Mamokgethi Phakeng, a renowned leader and advocate for women’s advancement, shared invaluable leadership advice during a WomenCan event. She emphasised the importance of resilience, collaboration, and challenging the status quo to drive meaningful progress for women in all spheres of life.

As the world prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day 2025, the collaboration between Old Mutual SMEgo, a groundbreaking digital solution for business, and WomenCan for The State of Women Address promises to be a pivotal moment in the journey toward gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Through dialogue, partnership, and actionable strategies, SOWA aims to amplify women’s voices and dismantle systemic barriers, creating a more inclusive future for all.
