SASSA SRD June 2025 payment dates confirmed — but not for everyone

SASSA confirms June 2025 SRD grant payment dates. Check who qualifies and what’s changing. | Stories Shaping South Africa Today

JOHANNESBURG – The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant payments for June 2025 will be processed between June 26 and June 30 — but only for beneficiaries whose applications are approved for the month.

Payments (for clients who are approved for the month of June 2025) will be processed from 26–30 June 2025. Clients are encouraged to view their status on the SRD website for the exact date that payment will reflect into their bank accounts,” SASSA announced on Monday.

To check if you’re eligible, visit the official SASSA SRD status checker. Funds usually reflect in approved beneficiaries’ accounts within 2–3 working days.

What is the SRD Grant?

The SRD Grant, currently set at R370 per month, was introduced in May 2020 to support South Africans facing severe material hardship — from unemployment and disaster impacts to awaiting other grants like child support.

To qualify, you must:

  • Be over 18 years old
  • Be unemployed and not receiving any other form of income, grant, or funding (e.g. UIF or NSFAS)
  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylum seeker
  • Have a verifiable monthly income below R624

Who will get paid in June?

Only applicants who: ✅ Are approved for June 2025
✅ Have completed mandatory biometric verification (new from June 7)
✅ Submitted accurate ID and banking details
✅ Are not flagged for fraud, duplicate grants, or income discrepancies

Why you might be skipped — even if approved before

New ID verification systems have caused widespread delays and confusion. Over 210,000 grant recipients were blocked earlier this month due to flagged mismatches, “income source identified” errors, or outdated personal data.

Even long-time beneficiaries are affected. As shared by user @ZindluVuyo,

I’ve got 11 months Approved but no pay days, May 2025 declined, because the outcome says ‘INCOME SOURCE IDENTIFIED’. I tried to lodge an Appeal, but their system is unavailable … June is still pending.

Another user, @vendaprincesss, noted:

@OfficialSASSA I tried applying for the first time and it says grant application already active??? Njani.

This growing frustration has led to renewed scrutiny of SASSA’s systems, especially after Treasury threatened to withhold funds unless the agency tightens its fraud controls.

What to do if you’re declined or pending

If your grant is still marked as “Pending” or was declined, follow these steps:

  1. Check your application status: srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
  2. Update your personal details or banking info on the portal
  3. Submit an appeal within 90 days
  4. Ensure you’ve completed the biometric verification if applying after June 7

All other June Grants paid

All eight SASSA grants — including Old Age, Child Support, Disability, Foster Care, and War Veterans — have already been paid out for June.

If you’re not sure which grant you qualify for, consult the official SASSA website or the online services portal.

Final word

With stricter rules and technical delays becoming the norm, SRD recipients must act fast to secure their R370 grant. From June 26 to June 30, only the approved will be paid — and if you haven’t verified or updated your info, you may be left behind.
