Kanye West South Africa Dec 13 concert cancelled as Ye replaces original promoter

Kanye West's December 13 Johannesburg concert is cancelled. Original promoters Monyake Group have been replaced by Yeezy LLC for 'non-compliance.' While a full refund is issued, fans are left awaiting a new date and answers about what went wrong.

JohannesburgConfirmed: Kanye West’s Johannesburg show scheduled for December 13 (2025) has been officially cancelled, with promoter Monyake Group removed from the project as Yeezy shifts the event into a full, expanded production under a new structure.

The announcement comes after months of confusion, conflicting statements, public scepticism, and backlash — much of it previously highlighted in NOWinSA’s investigation into the concert’s shaky rollout and lack of clarity from organisers.

Monyake Group confirms Yeezy Joburg concert cancellation

In a December 1 (2025) official media statement, Monyake Group confirmed the cancellation and formally handed over the event:

“Monyake Group (Pty) Ltd hereby confirms that the upcoming show will no longer take place on 13 December 2025.”

“The show has been officially transferred to Yeezy Production, who will take over all future planning, communication, and execution of the event.”

The company urged fans to await a new announcement directly from Ye’s verified platforms:

“The public is advised to await an official announcement from Ye’s platforms, where updated details about the new show date will be communicated.”

Refunds now activated

Monyake Group confirmed that all tickets will be fully refunded via TicketPro:

The statement closes by thanking fans for their patience and support.

Jay Carson & Co confirms “expanded Yeezy-led production”

Adding weight to the restructuring, Jay Carson & Co posted a formal statement confirming the promoter switch and the event’s new direction:

“Jay Carson & Co is proud to confirm its role as a key stakeholder in the expanded Yeezy-led production set to take place in South Africa.”

“As part of the restructuring and expansion of the project, the previous promoter Monyake Group will not be part of the updated production structure.”

“With the project now scaling into a much larger national and international production, the performance previously scheduled for 13 December 2025 will no longer take place on that date and will be moved to a new date.”

“This postponement allows the production to expand into a more ambitious vision, including the development of a nationally backed concert formally endorsed by the country.”

The company emphasised that official updates will only come from Ye’s verified channels, Yeezy LLC, and Jay Carson & Co.

How the confusion began

NOWinSA first flagged concerns in an earlier news article after Ye posted the concert poster but fans found ticket links that didn’t work — an early sign of the chaos ahead.

This, combined with recent high-profile cancellations such as Hey Neighbour, heightened fan anxiety.

Musa Khawula’s explosive allegations

The situation spiralled when blogger Musa Khawula claimed per X post below:

  • Monyake Group was being deregistered,
  • had failed to pay Ye’s management, and
  • was “scamming” fans.

He outlined an alleged $1.25 million payment schedule that he said was breached.

Monyake Group hit back — but those assurances have now collapsed

At the time, the promoter issued a firm denial:

“The ‘Ye Live in South Africa’ concert remains confirmed for 13 December 2025 at Ellis Park Stadium.”

“The agreement between Monyake Group and Yeezy LLC is valid and in good standing.”

“Claims of company deregistration, non-payment and breach of contract, are entirely untrue.”

But today’s confirmation that Monyake Group has been removed from the project suggests deeper issues behind the scenes.

Low ticket sales, sponsorship struggles and no sign of Ye

TicketPro had confirmed only 6,000 tickets sold for a 60,000-capacity stadium — a devastating shortfall.

Even with agencies like Dentsu X brought in for sponsorship, Ye and his core team never publicly acknowledged the show after the initial poster.

That silence now appears deliberate, with Yeezy LLC preparing its own production framework.

Ye’s evolving empire: New production companies, new projects

This upheaval comes as Ye expands aggressively into new industries:

Ye is also reportedly planning a globally televised “homecoming” moment in South Africa as part of his expanding Yeezy Production portfolio.

So What Happens Now?

The 13 December 2025 concert is officially cancelled.

Full refunds are being processed.

Yeezy Production is taking full control of all future South African show planning.

A new date will be announced only on Ye’s verified channels — (@kanyewest on X):

Given the scale Jay Carson & Co describes — including national partnerships and international broadcast plans — the reimagined event may be far larger than the original Ellis Park concept.

But for now, fans are left with a familiar South African reality: another cancelled mega-show, another waiting game, and renewed concerns about promoter transparency in an industry still recovering from major event failures.
