A true triple threat, actor Nay Maps unveils new debut single

As an actor, musician and pianist, Nkosinathi 'Nay Maps' Maphalala truly fits the definition of a triple threat, and he deserves our attention. The former 'Uzalo' star debuted his new single, I’ll Be There, in an intimate setting in Johannesburg, proving he's as much talented a vocalist and pianist as he's gifted actor .

The much-loved entertainer launched his official debut single titled ‘I’ll Be There’ on Wednesday evening before an intimate crowd at White lounge in Sunninghill, in collaboration with Bombay Sapphire made up of close friends and family (mother).

A true example of a triple threat, Nay Maps proved his lesser known side as a pianist.

Nay Maps’ official foray into music has been highly anticipated by fans as he has been teasing fans with impromptu performance of well-known music remakes and at times playing the piano.

 In case you didn’t know, Nay Maps comes from a musical family, his parents, an Apostle, Simeon Maphalala, who is now late, as well as his mother, Xoliswa Maphalala have always loved music and have been musicians their whole lives.

Actress Refilwe Modiselle, radio presenter Dineo Ranaka (The Ranakas), singer and dancer Robot Boii, TV producer Percy Vilakazi were among well-known faces who came to support Nay Maps.

 “As a boy growing up my parents would make me sing at events and push me to perform on stage as they saw the gift I possessed with Music and Storytelling,” he says.

While this marks official beginning of his solo music career, Nay Maps has come a long way from his early acting beginnings on Uzal. He has evolved since then, with back-to-back acting roles from the likes of Isibaya, Uzalo, Skeem Saam, Mbewu, 2021 Royalty Soapie award wining TV show The Queen and is currently preparing for season 2 of Umkhokha on Mzansi Magic & Showmax.
